see ya in a couple hours!
wife got a wake up call from an opener calling in sick, so i'm delayed by taking her to work again.

That is a great photo.

Jealous, sort of.  Can't go fishing cause the car needs a new alternator (which goes in tomorrow) :(

Maybe I'll give Hagg a shot sunday or monday.

If it's still under warranty then by all means let them do it, if not save yourself the labor $$$ and do it yourself.  Alts are one of the easy things to replace on most cars.

Nope, not under warranty.  I don't have easy access to the necessary tools, that paying someone else to do it is just about as economical as me doing it myself (after buying tools, a replacement part, bandaids and the inevitable trip to the ER to reattach a finger or two  :o ).  I considered doing it, and then read up on it. From all of the reports of people replacing their alternator, or just the belt, in an Element, it sounded a lot harder than checking oil, replacing an air filter, fuse, or battery.  Really small engine bay, no easy access into the area with the various pulleys and bitz.  I know that I "could" do it, but I'd prefer to leave it to someone else, that way if it is done incorrectly, it is being done incorrectly by a trained pro, who I can then blame.  I am alos one of those people who will normally ruin or damage something while trying to fix it - I'll figure out how to do it correctly after the first couple of tries.

I hear ya. Some cars out there were never meant to be worked on after the sell.  Seems like the engineers that designed them, focused on making them quiet, small, efficient, and impossible for normal folks to work on.  Ever work on a Dodge/Plymouth Omni?   You pretty much have to take the back bumper off and start back there if you plan to change the belts on the damn thing.

Hmm, looks more like it was shot from a Canon EOS 20D shooting 70mm, F/10, ISO-100 for 6 seconds.  ;)

No, its from my real digital camera, Canon 20D. I usually pack it in my dry bag, but didn't bother yesterday since there was supposed to be a heavy fog layer, and i was traveling light.  You don't really want an iPhone, they're just water magnets.  Don't ask me how I know, I've only had mine a couple weeks...

Yesterday was better fishing for me, but I was sans camera.  I didn't get the first light bite this time, but INSAYN found the fish early.  I think he might have paddled 50 yards on the troll at most before his worm tipped spinner found fish.  I worked over one shallow area briefly, then INSAYNs little area heavily with nothing to speak for.  I eventually gave up and trolled around a Rapala Jointed Minnow (another one of my faves) after getting bored with lack of luck on everything else.

Near INSAYN's lil sunken island I took a huge two-tug hit. Line peeled off for a second then silence.  I paddled on slowly. Crossing the dam, there was another hit. It seemed like a snag though. Rod bent, stayed bent, but did so too quickly to be a snag.  I reel the line in and sure enough, there's a fish on the end of that Rapala.  But not much fight from what turned out to be a 12-13" Perch!

Good, that makes the day better than the one before.

I continue my troll and find INSAYN off his yak, clothes changed (got warm out there!) and talkin on the phone. I head back out on my troll with the Rapala.  Nearing the grounds where I had just caught that perch my rod goes down again! Sweet! Wait! No!! Snagged! Dangitallman. I work to get the snag cleared but it never comes. After fiddling for much too long I know all I can do is let it go. I give it a long pull to snap the 12# flouro and send my jointed minnow to retirement.

I grab the ultralight again and throw on a 4" pumpkin senko.  I peel out about 7 pulls of line, sit and wait.  I start thinking about trout and why i hadn't heard of trolling a wetfly at hagg. Its a great way to fish my favorite lake in eastern washington. So drag out a wetfly and start tieing a leader to it when "Wham!" my line hits.  I grab the rod, give it a set and start reeling - inadvertently throwing the fly in the lake.  What comes up is a lil Small Mouth.  I hold it up and give a shout to INSAYN who is slowly coming my way, and give it toss back in the lake.  After tossing in a new senko, i tied up my last wetfly and began my troll back to the launch, and then onward back home.

Yup that single trout was all I managed for the day.   :'(

Bled it and put it on ice knowing it's going to be a long time before I go home.

Played around for trout, bass and anything else I could throw at em until 230ish, and then packed up and headed for the boat launch.  While loading stuff up in the truck, I just happened to look into the water over the submerged ramp and saw a herd/flock of bass swimming by.  Probably all in the 10-12" range and there was about 15-20 staggered out.  Must all be heading home from school or something?  :D

Today, I slept in.   Called by buddy Dave that recently picked up those Cobra F&D's to see if he was up to some Hagg time.  Good to go around 1pm, so we plopped in at Ramp C to focus on a batch of yellow perch, and possible bass on the West end of the lake.  We paddled towards Scoggins Creek and got about 200 yards from where the creek spills in now.  In the course of an hour we saw/heard big bass jump six times.  One was really close to Dave's yak.  I tried some top water lures at them, and got nada for it.  We eventually paddled up the creek as far as we could (which isn't very far).  As I was turning my yak around, there was a small frog laying on the top of the water.  He never spooked, which is weird.  Dave slid his paddle blade under the frog and lifted it out of the water and into his yak.  That silly frog walked around the bow of his yak for a few hours until it finally bailed over board.

Finding nothing more of interest at that end of the lake, we then paddled over the mouth of Tanner Creek in search of some perch.  Found a few pockets of them in 17' of water just inches off the bottom.  With just a micro jig and a bit of worm, we hammered them.  Both of caught a dozen or so, but all were under 6", and pretty skinny.  A bit bigger or fatter, and would have kept them for a simple fish fry.

Wind started picking up and started to get some chop.  My 5lb barbell weight wouldn't hold me, but Dave's 7.5lb weight held him just fine.  I should have taken my 3lb claw anchor instead.   :-[

We got off the water just as the sun was dipping into the trees, and before the herd of boats came back in.

Fun's over for a little while, as I have to go back to work tomorrow (been on Vacation for two weeks).
