The boys dragged me out to Hagg at 1st light this morning.  They were on a mission and there was no holding them back.
Kai (aka Spatter) was 1st out of the chute in search of trout points.  By the time I launched, he was clear across the lake on a slow troll with a worm tipped needlefish.
Taylor (aka Snorlax) and I worked the shoreline for his LMB.  From nearly a mile away, we could hear Kai whooping and hollering.  Taylor looks and me with sad, deep set eyes and says "Kai got his trout........"

Time passed, Kai got his measurement and glory shot and we got skunked.  When we reached the dock, Kai was already there.  "Hey dad" he says "What kind of fish are green with a black tail?"...  "Largemouth!" I say casting a glace back at Taylor.  In no time, Taylor was working the dock with his baby brush hawg.  1 missed take and 1 lost fish later Taylor had a solid hook set..... and the lead.

Uh oh.  Janni, do you see what those spot boys just did on the Youth AOTY?  Methinks I smell a steelhead coming on.

Well done brothers Spot.

Nice work boys!   That lake is getting low and easier to cover every day.

I took my boy Tanner out yesterday late morning to mid afternoon specifically to target perch for a chowder we were planning to make for dinner.  We tried the arm of Tanner creek and a few other spots that I found them in numbers a few weeks earlier.  No good.  >:(

I wanted Tanner to catch a few fish this year with the pole Santa gave him.  So I was determined to find something out there for him.

Decided to hit the dam and see what bites.  At about 100 ft out from the dam, and in 26 feet of water, we started nailing 8" Bluegill, and nothing else.  Took home 7 for dinner, and although not the meatiest critters, they helped the chowder out just the same.  Tanner was stoked to tell mommy that he caught the first 3 fish.

I did nail a big fat 15"-16" trout by chance on a micro jig (no skirt) stuffed with night crawler.  It got wrapped up in my stringer right at the yak and broke off.  I almost had it bare handed, but slime is on them for a reason.   :-\

Poor Janni, I've been a bad Papa and haven't taken her out for over a month.  ::) I've been swamped with some projects and spare time has been taken with garden harvest.

Uh oh.  Janni, do you see what those spot boys just did on the Youth AOTY?  Methinks I smell a steelhead coming on.

Time to spool her Jeff Gordon spincaster with some fresh line.  ;D

She's got lots of room for upgrades and more species, too. >:D

I'll pass along your sentiments guys.   ;D

The boys actually mentioned that they felt bad stealing the lead from a little girl.  I think they're more interested in besting each other.

Spatter is demanding Salmon
Snorlax wants a crack at Sturgeon
They're both asking about how old you need to be to enter the AOTY proper..
I'm starting to get worried!
