Hello all.  I’ve been lurking on the forum for the past couple weeks and just wanted to introduce myself.

I’m very interested in getting into kayak fishing, and am currently shopping/saving for a boat.  I’m leaning towards an OK Trident 13 or 15.  So for the time being I won’t have much to offer, other than asking a lot of questions.  I live in SE Portland, so hopefully I can meet up with some of you other Portland folk sometime.

I’d like to possibly rent a few SOT’s to try out.  Where in Portland can you rent kayaks?  I also plan on taking a couple classes from Alder Creek.

Thanks for all the great information so far.

Welcome! AC also rents yaks, and you can do test paddles behind the store. I have a T15 and love it. I've paddled a T13 and it's an awesome kayak too. In fact it was the first SOT I paddled. When I get a second kayak, you can take one for a spin with me. Plenty others here can often do the same.

Thanks for the reply guys.

I'll be slowing trying to piece the gear together this winter, and hopefully be ready for next season.  Not that the season ever ends.

Next Adventure demo's kayaks for free - normally on Thursday afternoons, call ahead to make sure they are doing it - they have a pretty fair range of SOTs

Thanks Madoc, I'll check them out.  I rode by there last week and noticed their building a whole new separate kayak center across the street.  Looked pretty nice, though not sure when it'll open.

Hey!  Careful, I resemble that remark.

Welcome Dillion.  As you know there is a wealth of information here, posted and in the heads of others.  I too am new to kayak fishing having started just last April and I could not have progressed so quickly (not that I am some sort of expert) without the help of everyone here.  I have a T13 and like it a lot, though I have nothing which with to compare.

Nice crab!  Where was the photo taken?
