So it was actually pretty easy. I made it up to INSAYN's house and he said he had a drift anchor mount that was pretty much done already that was just lying around. He said something about it being Spot's.... or something like that, I'm not sure, I must not have been paying too much attention.  ::) Anyways, we fitted it up to the Mini-X with a couple of mods here and there, and presto! It works great! Thanks a ton INSAYN!!
I'll get some pics up later!

Ok, Ok… I’m just messing around.
So yeah, I guess there isn’t much of a how-to that I can write about this really. But here goes…

Step 1.
Go see this guy.

And that’s pretty much it!
Congratulations! You’re done!  :D

I think if I were to actually write out the how-to on this one, I’d be in a grossly overdrawn balance in my WAF account because it would just take too long!
So here’s a photo journal of the process from somewhat start to somewhat finish.  I say somewhat start to finish simply because INSAYN was already waist deep into cutting and welding by the time I broke out the camera, and I still have to paint it so it’s not quite done.

I’ll take some more pics and add to the post after I get it out on the water for a test run. Or when Spot isn’t mad at me anymore and allows me to tag along on a river trip!  :laughing7:

Aluminum mounting blocks that are to be mounted permanently

Who needs schematics when you have this guy? He did the entire thing by just eyeballing everything!

No fear! He tacks some welds on right on the boat! (Yes, he closed his eyes before pulling the trigger!)

Links of chain for guides, brilliant!

Again, all done just by eyeballing it! Crazy!

So as you can see, INSAYN lives up to his name when it comes to fabricating stuff. CRAZY skills.
I think his handle on the site should be The Eyeball Master, but I guess that sounds a little awkward to someone when take out of context. :D
Like I said, I'll add some more pics after I get it out on the water and test it out.
Thanks INSAYN! You da man! :icon_thumleft:

Hmmm, what if you added a little more kickup, welded the pulley to the bottom of the arm, and cut a slot in the arm for the anchor line to pass through? No worries abut the line popping of the pulley, then! ;D

beautiful work!
looks bombproof and I really like how high you got the anchor out of the water.
looking forward to seeing the photos of it in action.

Im curious about the scotty mount in the tank well and what its used for. downrigger?

heres a photo of my first attempt at a drift anchor rig for the mini-X. It worked, but I still switched over to a more conventional and sturdier metal system.
Now the project dubbed "the gauntlet" is nothing more than an oddity.

hydrospider, how was that tube contraption secured to the kayak?

I used that as a place for a fly rod holder or regular rod holder with a scotty exstension arm and I guess it would also be a good place for a safey light too. I might have to end up moving it over to the other side since my anchor line is going to be running right near there.

I drilled 2 holes in the PVC cap that matched up with the holes that secured the handle grip. Then used the same bolts and washers that came with the grip to hold it in place.
I used it on multiple river trips and it did the job but it caused some point pressure on the kayak that I wasnt comfortable with. Displacing that pressure, as you did, is a much smarter way to go.
