That's a good boat and a lesson is a GREAT idea. It'll shorten the leaning curve tremendously. Anybody can get in a boat, paddle around and have a good time. But a good lesson can really tweak your technique and make life much easier and fun (well, at least the paddling part of it)    Also little things like how to get on and off from a dock and from deep water are REALLY nice to learn under experienced tutelage.

I don't want to take away from a sale for Floatin Cowboy, but another option is a truck bed extender for the small trucks.  Fishesfromtupperware suggested this option to me.  I have used it twice now and it is very nice.  No lifting up to the rooftop which is nice with my OK Big Game Prowler (it's a bit hefty!).  Also it's a very cheap option as compared to the roof racks I was looking at.  Just food for thought.

Also, I'm just north of you in The 'Couv'.  If you are interested in a trip sometime I would be game.  Probably need to get a out of state license but not that big of a deal.  I'm new to the game also.  Only three fishing trips to local lakes in my new yak.

I think we would definately like to hook up with someone who has some experience. Summers are always crazy for us, but I will keep you posted once we have our yaks. Hubbys will be in a week from tomorrow

Me and my wife both have 15 ft prowler and she does fine lifting it up on top of our full size pickup.  she fishes, crabs in both ocean and lakes.  i've taken mine out in 4 ft whitecaps in virginia.  my wife is registered under armywife_champney if you have any questions for her.
