Yup, 0700 @ Luhr Beach Tue Morn.

Hope to see you there Dan. None of us are pros either.

I looked up Luhr Beach on th map and didn't see any beach access. Wanted to make sure I got the right spot. Any good directions would be helpful.
Thanks, Dan

OMR.... The best thing to tell you is to take Meridian off of Martin Way.. first round about stay to the right on merridian. and then follow the signs to the public boat launch.

i dont know actual street names besides Meridian. but i just looked at the map.  Rav correct me if i am wrong. but it looks like the directions are:

Martin Way to Meridian Rd. NE  at traffic circle stay to the right and take the right street to continue on meridian.
46th Ave Take a Right
D. Milluhr Dr take a left.
follow it around to the right to the boat launch..

Again there are signs that say public boat launch. If i remember there small signs but they are there. lol..

Dan i will PM you with my cell so if you have any problems i can try and help.

Just checked the weather forecast, and it looks great. Temps are pretty mild, low wind, and most likely won't even get rained on.

I went buy Wholesale Sports yesterday to pick up another handful of jig heads only to find they no longer carry them loose anymore. On top of that, the heaviest I could find in the proper hook size was 1/4 oz. I figure if I can't keep it on the bottom, I'll just have to add a large splitshot or two.

Directions:

Traveling south on I-5 exit 114 to Martin Way. Turn right on Meridian.

Traveling north on I-5 exit 111 veer right, and strait through the round about. Turn right at traffic light onto Marvin, then left at the second light onto Martin Way, then left on Meridian a few miles up the rd

On meridian exit right out of round about and watch for green signs at the intersections for public fishing. it will be a few miles after the round about before you come to the first one. It You will deadend @ the launch you can't miss it.

It's an extremely easy launch to find.  If you haven't been in the area before, don't get to close to the delta area at low tide.  The water is about 4 inches deep for several hundred meters from the shore in places.  You can end up sliding through mud, which is lots of work, or trying to weave through the shallow areas, which is lots of work too.

yeah, watch the mud!! if it's low tide , like Lee says, go around the mud flats.. it's still doable, just adds another 1/4 mile of paddling. flood tide, go for it, cut across, you'll have enough water under you... that's  something to consider if you are headed into the river mouth and back up towards the I5 bridge or even farther up to the Mounts road corners.. paddling back at flood, it's a nice short cut as long as you're prudent about your route.

several other notes;'

PB's launching there can turn the place into a circus, with corresponding nasty, inconsiderate attitudes at times.

parking can also be a problem if you get there late.

if launching a paddle craft at low tide, do not forget that the launch point itself is still deeply muddy, and be ready to deal with that.

don't forget, McAllister Creek is a direct turn to the right off the launch.. good spot for cutts since there's a hatchery over in the Nisqually Valley..

have fun, play safe.

That was certainly the case before they started opening the dikes. In some areas the water is still too shallow for a large PB at low tide, but water that was typically inches deep, is now a couple of feet. The skinny water currents do get a little tricky at times though.

Just to clarify; it's only that muddy on an extreme low tide. The beach is gravel, and there is a concrete boat ramp. It's usually just dirty enough to warrant rinsing your feet before swinging them into the yak. The ramp is steep & gets slick with smashed sea grasses and algae, so watch your step carrying/wheeling your yak down.

To anyone that may show up late without a radio, just paddle strait across the sound to the west side of Anderson Island. We shouldn't be hard to spot.

See you all @ 0700  ¿  <⁰(((><

It was great meeting all of you that made it yesterday. A special thanks to Squid girl for the use of the t-15 and for enduring such a long, hard paddle back to the launch. You were a real trooper!  :police:

The bite was not there like it was last week. I caught 2 starry flounder and a sculpin, Drool 1 starry flounder, and fishin-t 1 crab. There were a few more takers, but no more brought to hand. It was a no kidding long paddle,  but the wind and currents were fairly cooperative. The original hole I intended for us to fish was waaaaayyy overshot on the initial paddle out, but we prospected a few other holes on the way back to make the best of it. I apologize to you all for the extended workout. I really need to buy a FF/GPS combo. Fishin-t, Drool and I fished the "hot" beach for a few, but only 1 crab (that was released) saw the net. There were quite a few fish as well as bait marked on our FF, but the bite just wasn't there. I was truly hoping for everyone to share in the success I had a week earlier, but that's fishing. It was great to meet with you all, and I look forward to another paddle and warmer weather.
