Looks like we'll be heading north to visit Grandpa John this year.  He lives in Brinnon.  I was wondering if there was anything happening in the canal in July or August?  I would like to set up our visit for a time when there is something to fish for...he lives right on the water.  Thanks for your help.

Head up to the Straits and take a left.  You'll be into the fish ...

Shellfish are usually a good bet around Brinnon; crabs, clams and oysters.

Later is better than early. There aren't many resident salmon in the Canal, but a bunch more migrating in later in the year. Typically kings first, then coho. The north part of the Canal (near Brinnon) doesn't usually open for salmon until Sept.1. The south end, below Ayock Pt. opens July 1.

Searun cutthroat are in the area and offer good CnR action off the beaches, with fly rods.

Like PS said later is better. Seems the runs are more likely late than early. ;) I'll pm you.

Hey speaking of the ole HC, I'm new to this whole kayak fishing thing, but live in Seabeck and plan on hitting the waters hard on my new kayak and catching some serious fish! I've been crabbing out here for a while but am looking forward to kayak fishing year-round and could use all the help I can get if you guys are willing to help!

Thanks, Josh
