Shock Cord Clamps

Hey guys. Pullin' an old Bart Simpson smashin' the beer can on my forehead routine. Is there an easy way to pinch down these clamps on shock cord, a special
tool or just wish I had a brain? Any suggestions, por favor.
 

If it looks like this, just pull the collar over the base of the eye.

I just copied this guys. He used hog rings to clamp the ends, covered them in 1" tubular webbing from REI to control overall stretch and gives strength and full stretch, and made them look pretty with heat shrink tubing. I made long ones, short ones, different colored ones, 1/8" bungie for light duty and covered those with 1/4" cordura sleeves, 1/4" bungie with 1/2" nylon sleeves, and 3/8" heavy duty ones for heavy items or surf launches with 1" nylon webbing for the sleeves. I just use pliers to crimp the hog rings (get aluminum ones), then hammer them closed tightly. I put a drop of Plio-bond over the hog ring connection before sliding the heat shrink tubing over it and warming it with my heat gun.

They make great dog leashes too. I gave several away as gifts too my fellow dog loving friends as dog leashes. You just make the loop larger and insert a foam covered PVC pipe as a handle.
