Went out on the Willy on Thursday to look for some early smallies. My plan was just to demo a Hobie and get the feel for it, but I thought I might as well bring a rod along to see if anything will bite. I wanted to demo a Revolution, but settled for a Outback that was brand new and fresh out of the packaging.
Isaac was able to come on short notice. The river was LOW! We're talking summer time low. Isaac hooked into a hawg of a smallie early on and that was the only fish caught. Sure was a beauty though. Can't remember what the measurements were exactly off the top of my head, but I'm sure you'll see it up on the AOTY page!
It was great to get on the water again!

That point across from the ramp is always good for some fish.  Springers too 8).   Nice fish!

River looked low and we were there on the incoming tide! ::)

We each missed a few other bumps.  Fishing for the PBs in the area was dead.

Couldn't have asked for better weather! No wind, a little sprinkle here and there...
There was a strong wind advisory for a little later that afternoon and the forecast called for rain all day. It seemed like it held out just long enough for us to get off the water!

Lots of great Smallmouth spots in that stretch of the river.  It will only get better as the water temp starts rising.  I have been fishing this part of the river for over 20 years and know it well.. This spring a guy could catch  7 AOTY species within 1/2 mile of that location.

That's a fat SMB Nothing!!!  I can't believe you picked that up in February.
Nice!
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain
