Cabelas has this unit on sale for $299, down from the original $499 price. Just wanted to let you guys know, seems it has good reviews.

I might go for it since I need a ff anyway. It has an external GPS, does this mean I'll have to mount an antenna somewhere on my yak? I've never owned a ff before but the wealth of info on this site has me learning pretty quickly.

Holy crap...good catch man...i had the 767 (discontinued model previous to this) and it was great before it got stolen...you can watch your jig go all the way to the bottom...and when you release fish you can watch them swim down too...
yes you will need to mount the antenna...but i stole an idea from Zee that works great and takes up no room...also all of the unit is self contained...
My version needed some work because i did it in 10 minutes with a hacksaw but it was a working solution.
Sorry this is best picture I can find but you can see the antenna mounted just in front of the unit...just make a bracket for the antenna (i made it out of a small 5 dollar cutting board) it is sturdy and convenient and easy to cut with a hacksaw or jigsaw
I would certainly jump on that deal...you will not find a better gps/ff combo for that price in my opinion...
In fact i think i am ordering one right now thnx for the headsup

By the way I just realized this was just discontinued and that is why it is on the cheap...this is the best way to get a fish finder in my opinon. I am definately ordering one because I didn't think I would get another chance at this price.

Great, I'm gonna grab one as well. Thanks for the pic, I knew I saw something like that around here but I couldn't find it.

was just web browsing, and ended up on the Humminbird site. found out they now offer a kayak specific package based on the 385cI combo.

was thinking it might be of interest to those of you looking for a fishfinder for your OK.
