When looking at and comparing fishfinders what type of transducer mount should i be looking for. What i am seeing a lot are transom and skimming style. Are these the kind you can mount in the hull with goop?. thanks ahead of time for the answers. doug

Also, my lasix eyes aren't what they used to be. just wondering what a good finder/gps combo unit might have the bigger screen an work well. Wanting to stay under $400.

I believe that a transom mount transducer will have no problem doing a shootthru hull.  I am pretty sure that is what everyone uses pretty much...
As for which fish finder to get...everyone here seems to like the cuda 350 but it doesn't exactly have a large screen...

that thread is a thread about the fish finder I ordered last night...
I suppose it depends on if you want color or not...
I was skeptical about humminbird until I bought a 767 and was very pleased...
I will continue to buy humminbird because the options you get for the price seem to out way the competitors.

I have the Humminbird 383C, color, the color contrast is great and well worth it for me. I shoot through the hull and need more time on the water with it to know if the dry mount is as good as I need.   holt
