Wind direction (switching from E to S) and swell size and direction are about right, but the wind forecast is for 15-20mph with higher gusts.
I'll have to get ready again, and then re-evaluate tomorrow morning. Maybe it'll be a go. I'll post a report. Now, its off to the lawnmower races!

Sunday may also provide do-able conditions for fishing the Jetty, although rain is supposed to start by afternoon.

Wind was pretty stiff from the East earlier, but it looks like it dropped down some. This afternoon might be OK, if the wind doesn't pick up too much when it switches to blowing from the south. (The forecast is for the wind to switch to 15 to 20 mph with gusts over 25).

Oops, there goes a gust!  I live on the west end of a good sized cranberry bog. It provides, about 1/3 mile of open space or "fetch" before the wind blasts thru my yard alongside my house and out my driveway. On E wind days, this gives me a pretty good indication of how hard its blowing at the Jetty.

I have to go get ready to launch, just in case the wind isn't as bad as forecast. Swell is small.

At 12:15pm PDT the wind had switched to from due South and notched up to 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 30+ mph.  Swell is down and not a problem in the fishing zone.
A little too windy at the moment for a decent go-out, but I'm going to go look at it again pretty soon, as the wind is supposed to lighten up some later this afternoon.

Yikes! Just got back and found I had wandered off without logging off here after my last post!
I went back to the jetty around 1:30pm and hung out til after 2:30 or 3pm. The wind was still howling at 15 to 25 with higher gusts. Didn't look too bad for those that hiked out to fish.
The gusty wind was whipping over the jetty rocks and swirling down hard on the water's surface on the lee side of the jetty.  Three power boats were out. One was leaving, and the other two were hanging in close to the rocks.
Talked to a couple that had a Tsunami on their vehicle. Saw another couple paddle out into the calm portion of Halfmoon Bay in short play boats. The wind was blowing them around a bit, and they weren't fishing. The wind would have had its way with me trying to fish in my Tarpon.
Looked like too much wind to contend with, so I called it a day. Got home, and it started raining by 4pm.

Things are looking a lot better today! Not perfect, but doable. :-\

Loaded all my gear and headed to the jetty. Wind switched to WSW, nearly straight onshore, blowing parallel to the jetty, and the swell was still too lumpy on the N side of the jetty. Looked to choppy and lumpy to fish effectively from a yak without having to fight it all the time, and the wind was still up too high. I hung out there for a couple of hours, hoping for the conditions to get better.
Tried casting a jighead with a red metalflake motoroil plastic twirl-tail worm from the rocks at the tail end of the jetty near the wave refraction mound for a while, but only got one strike, and missed it. No takers on a similar chartreuse jig.

That was yesterday. Today, I have to deal with normal mundane BS. No attempted yak fishing.

Tomorrow I'm doing something different, like C&R fly fishing Hood Canal for searun cutts, grabbing some oysters off the beach at low tide, and then hitting up a lake for some stocker 'bows for release into the fry pan. I'm going to try to figure out some workable plan for all that!
