My wife and I have been considering buying another kayak for some time and today we found a pretty cool place we didn't know about.  A Hobie Revolution was what we (I) decided on but we had never test drove one.  A couple of calls later Scappoose Bay Kayaking scheduled us for a test peddle / paddle that afternoon.  They are located at the Scapoose Marine Park, right at the boat launch.

Aside from being excited about the new boat, this area was really fun to check out, and we plan to go back.  While there is a fee for powerboats, kayaks can launch from a kayak / canoe dock area FOR FREE.  Without a cart, or a helpful friend, I'd be tempted to use the boat ramp if it wasn't crowded.  A free kayak launch site on a very nice part of the Multnomah Channel / Columbia River area.

We plan on going back and checking out the spot better, now with two boats.  Should be fun to see what we can get into there.

Scapoose Bay Kayaking was really good to work with.  Jeff was helpful, but also gave us space to talk.  I thought it was cool that they gave us a test run on about 3 hours notice.  Now if they can just put me onto a spring chinook from the kayak......

yeah, they've got a good lil shop going there.  They do a lot of cool eco-tours too.  And, if you've got the checkbook, the shop is for sale too

The FREE KAYAK LAUNCH ( insert cheap kayak fisherman yellow round guy here ) is in a nice location.  We plan on taking both boats out there for some fun.  A powerboat fishing friend invited me to go for springers the day after we bought the Hobie near the same area of the Multnomah Channel.  Had a real nice go round with a hatchery spring chinook the fish checker would later say was probably headed for the Clackamas River.  The only thing better would have been to get it from a kayak, but I'm not complaining.

This is a good area and there are some fish around.....

AMB, Congrates on the new yak. Jeff is a great guy and really knows a thing or two. That section of the river is also VERY fishy, so go and rip some springer lips. Enjoy your new Hobie. After 8 years in my 2nd generation Hobie Outback and I'm still learning how to target way more fish. See ya on the water!
