Hello to all.  I am new to Kayak fishing and am looking forward to exchanging information with folks in the know.  I live in Spokane Valley, WA and mostly like to river and lake fish.  Any suggestions for where to go in Eastern WA or the Idaho panhandle?  I have a small (10'6") Old Town Kayak and have just been getting used to it in Liberty Lake (since it opened first and is closest to home).  I am lookinf forward to some trout fishing, but also would like to bass fish and walleye fish as well.  I just re-located from Florida, and have been out of the trout game for about 20 years.  Any help as far as good areas to try and possibly baits/set-ups that seem to be working would be appreciated, as I have mostly river fished before, and am trying to get into more lakes.  Thanks in advance for any help, and I look forward to your replies!

Welcome Harvey,
As a newbie myself i can tell you that this is the place to learn. Post a question after you have done a search on it to see if the answer is already out there and you will find many offering their help and advice. Should you ever be out on the peninsula, give a holler I've got an extra kayak and you can experience some different water and fish. glad to have you on board.

Welcome aboard. I was just up in your area this last weekend.  I went out for a quick paddle on Lake Pend Oreille, but did not get any fishing in.  I will probably be back out that way this summer and would like to catch some Muskies in the panhandle lakes on the Washington/Idaho border.

Welcome to the forum and to the GPNW.  A 50 to 100 miles west of you depending on where you put in are two large long lakes, Roosevelt and Banks. Both offer bass and walleye.

A good strategy is to find a bait and tackle shop and go chat them up.  Corkscrew canyon is just 20 miles NW, but I have no idea of the fishing.

There is an active walleye fishery in eastern WA.  Check out

Howdy! Welcome aboard! There is a ton of good fishing (and great skiing) around your area, esp. to the NE of you in Idaho. I'd check out the Idaho board, there were some posts there recently on where and how's for the panhandle. Get yourself some wedding rings and get to trolling! Good luck,
Jonah

If you're near Banks Lake, check out Big Wally's bait and tackle.  Welcome to NWKA!

Welcome to the forum. ;D ;D ;D

I was born & raised in Spokane, & you have a lot or nice lakes to fish in. Definitly Big Wallys for Banks lake and the whole chain of lakes that run south of there. My kids live in Coulee City whish is about 5 min form the store. It it right on Hwy 2 just before you bypass Coulee City. My son is a PB fisherman, but I will ask for some good spots and rigs. :angel12:

Have fun!
Deb

Where is Banks lake?  Is that on the Columbia?  I am planning on getting my Idaho license as well since it is soo close, and I have a feeling the big lake will provise me with a great amount of fun going after lakers.  Does anyone know if Farragut  State park is a good place to go in Pend Orielle?  Any hidden gems i.e. small less well known lakes I should try?  I think next weekend I am going to try out Roosevelt is the wether works out.

Banks Lake was formed by the backup of the water from Grand Coulee Dam and it located almost in the middle of the state about a 2 1/2 hour drive west of Spokane I-90 to Moes & then north or just take hwy 2 a little slower 2 lane hwy.

Down from this, there are a whole chain of lakes Blue lake is one, a lot of people just fish from the bank, so you'd have a nice advantage. Tere are a lot of resorts uo & down the Hwy between Moses Lake & Coulee City, but plenty of places just along the road to launch in some of the smaller lakes. Enjoy.
