A vertical position rod storage rack gooped to the bottom of hull seems like it would work, right? I like to store my rods below the deck when I just feel like going for a paddle and don't want them in the way and its just a safe place for them. I can't stand it when they end up at the front of the boat and I have to fish them out. (no pun intended) Or they all get tangled etc. I think this would work well and I might try it out. Anybody done this already?
