Went out early for a good paddle and trolled for a few miles at RB. Conditions were absolutely awesome w/ flat lake-like water. Put on the Deep Six, green/silver flasher, and a green glow hoochie and some smelly jelly for good measure. Dropped it down to 70 pulls in 100 FOW. 20 min later WHAM!... then nothing. I reeled in and the line from my Deep Six to flasher was snapped. It really doesn't make any sense since it was the heavier of 2 size lines on my rig. ??? The only thing I can come up with is that either a salmon, shark, or seal slammed the flasher and bit through the line.

I didn't have another flasher so I pulled the hook off of a Kroc spoon and set it up like a flasher. Dropped it down and hooked up Pink @ about 25". It didn't put up much of a fight and saved all it's energy for freakin out at the yak. After 5 attempts to net him he spit the hook and swam away. :'( Got 2 more smaller pinks that I let go and an assortment of rockfish and flatties. I marked a good amount of fish... the salmon are here! :o

Beautiful morning on the sound and a few good hookups. Now just to hook up with that Chinook...  8)

Have you tried targeting the pinks at all with the pink stuff they say works? Or are you going for kings catching pinks cause they're around??

Sounds like you know a spot!

15 lb.

You know I've caught pinks on a few different lures.. nothing too specific for them if you ask me. I haven't tried the pink lures but if they do work you'd probably hammer 'em.

Until now the fish weren't really showing up. Just last week fish have been popping up so catching pinks was a real blast. In NorCal I really liked catching big fish like lings etc. so I prefer to go after big fish like chinooks. Today was my first real whole hearted attempt for them since I got a hot tip about a spot @ RB from a salmon charter. Got some more specific gear today so will be hitting it up again soon.

Hey Z-

The PBers around hear use much higher test for the weight-flasher connection, and the flasher to lure connection. It's not so much to horse in fish, but to give good action to the lure. Beside, those flashers get expensive. :o That section from weight to flasher gets a lot of abuse, especially if the swivels aren't up to snuff.
