Ok, the hook is set. I feel a long drive coming on. Strapping the boat to the roof tonight, gathering the Salmon gear (Rockfish? Crabs?), charging the battery, and genrally prepping to drive to (at least) Tacoma after work tommorow (cousin's house).

So, is it Elliot Bay and bring my big manuvering rudder? Or Richmond Beach with the longstrokes,or,,,?

What time (o'dark:30 ?),  and where do I park?  ;D ;D ;D

Ok I think I've got the skinny for this weekend. I have a few sources and they all seem to jibe. First, the Chinook's are HERE :o!!! I had to pick up some tile for my home in Ballard and I thought I might as well take a look at the locks while I'm there. OMG! Last weekend there were a few more than usual Chinooks and today... PACKED!!! Check the attached pics. Salmon University is calling this "the best king salmon fishing this area of Puget Sound has seen in Decades and Decades." Another thing to consider is that our quota for Chinook will most likely run out this weekend. Some were saying it would last until next week but with this surge in numbers we'll no doubt be cut off very soon.

I was thinking earlier about going to Elliot Bay but a little turned off because of the crowds. I ran into a local fisherman @ RB and we chatted about what spot would be the place to be. He basically told me, hands down, RB is the place to be. EB will be fine but packed for sure and it would be stressful. He told me, as he landed limits of Chinook in 30 min. that "the hogs are here" and this has been his secret spot for 10 years.

Long story short I will be on the water verrry early tomorrow morning, Sat, and Sun to take advantage of this event. ;) For all those hitting Elliot Bay and other spots.. Hana Pa'a (tight lines) we're looking forward to the reports and pics. And if anyone wants to join me I'd be happy to share my intel on RB.

I'll be fishing Friday morning in Elliott Bay, and then Saturday morning in either EBay or R.B. Depending on my success and your reports!

FishesfromTupperware, I'll be launching from the "Jack Perry Memorial Shoreline Public Access. Just south of Pier 36 Coast Guard Station on Alaskan Way South"... Where are you driving from? I've had pretty good kayak crabbing success around here wherever, but NOT in EBay (it's polluted and no crab consumption is advised).

Tight lines to you guys. Probably see you Saturday! If it's hot in R.B. I'll be up there! If it's hot in Ebay, you should come down here!

4:30 sounds a tiny early to me...

5:45 sunrise.
~ 5:00 dawn...

A didn't get up very early today, but didn't look like I missed much at Elliott Bay... it was slow on the water.

5:00 at Richmond Beach? But if the fishing was hot at 4:30 today, I can be there...

Hey Matt,
Same story @ RB this morning. Dunno what the heck was going on but so as fishing. I had some hookups but nothing substantial. Do you have a VHF? If so I'll be on ch.69 but I'm sure you'll be able to see us from the launch. I'll PM you the launch spot.

Hope you guys had tons of success. I didn't make it out, but hope that I'll get another chance soon. I guess that's it for Area 10 chinook though...?
