Gator Hatch

I recently bought a Malibu Extreme. I really like the kayak but I am interested if anyone has an opinion on the gator hatch. I have taken my little son out with me and he really liked going out. It would be nice if he had his own seat.

Also if anyone has one for sale locally I would be interested.

I do not have the gator hatch myself, but have heard great things about it from a couple of other Malibu owners. Specifically about how great it is as a kids' seat. It also has that nice little bit of extra storage space with bungee on it which would be a great place for a emergency hand pump. Personally, I would never use the rod holders for my own rods that I would want to use since they would be positioned so far forward, but I think they are designed for whoever is sitting up front anyway.

It sure looks like a nice hatch.  I went on my first trip down near fox island and the wind and waves were putting a lot of water over the bow, and I barely got any water inside the hull, but I heard the gator hatch sealed even better. The only draw back I could think the hatch might be is that it adds much more weight to an already heavy yak.
