OK, so I was sitting on my yak fishing, having a great day, enjoying myself but...  constantly wondering how the Mariners were making out and curious if Team USA were holding off them crazy Britts in World Cup Soccer.

Not to offend the "purists" out there, but does anyone rig a portable radio to their kayaks?  Do you hook up power to your fishfinder battery, or just use AAA batteries? Has anyone had experience using one of those hand-crank radios where you don't need batteries at all?

Just wondering. - WW

Those little cheap emergency(Wind up) radios should work, doubt they are waterproof!

And here I thought this was about VHF radios.  FWIW: I can't imagine ruining the experience of whales farting, seals snorting and the distant sound of "Fish On" carried across the water ever so faintly while attending the Church of the Rolling Swell.

LOL!  O.K. I agree.  I'll stop listening to the Mariners, but World Cup only happens once every four years.

What you want is a "shower" radio. Not great sound quality but they are inexpensive and are designed to get wet. Another World Cup junkie here. I've watched every game since 1994.

That's a great idea!! I typically don't miss my tunes when I'm on the water, but for those hat summer days when I'm more leisurely floating around than actively fishing it would be nice to have.

You could always get one of those "dry-pouches" made for cellphones, cameras, and ipods and use a cheapo radio.  I've brought music on the water a few times, but found it kinda ruined the experience a bit. :-\
