 Butt, what is it going to cost me for a roll of that heavy line to make a few leashes with?

Leader spools are probably the best way to go. But even at that it's pretty spendy. About $20 for 100 yards of 200# mono. Like a lot of DIY projects I think this one falls under the category of fun but not really cheap.

If each leash used 6 feet of line 100 yards would make 50 leashes, for 40 cents a leash.  I wonder if there is demand for 50 leashes on this forum?  If so, I would consider springing for the leader and making coils.

Your friendly neighborhood tackle shop should sell you heavy leader by the foot.

OK, I bought some 300# leader, made 5 in about 20 minutes, it worked perfectly!  If there is a demand I would be happy to make some for people.  Let me know.
