Puget Sound Fishing questions

Hi Friends, unfortunately, I'm not fishing with kayak this weekend, but rather spending some time with buds on a sailboat in Port Townsend/Orcas Island.
I've never fished the Sound before, so I'm not sure what's out there.
Any tips on what kind of fish to go for and what to use?

So much info to answer that question being the middle of our salmon time. Come on sounders let's see if we can help out Yakky.

Port Townsend is Marine Area 6 and the San Juans are MA7. 

MA6 - release all chinook, chum, and wild coho.  Limit 2 salmon.
Lingcod and rockfish CLOSED.
15/day bottomfish.  Bottomfish CLOSED in waters >120'

MA7 - Retain 1/day Chinook from 22", release all chum, and wild coho. Limit 2 salmon. 
Lingcod and rockfish CLOSED.
15/day bottomfish.  Bottomfish CLOSED in waters >120'

You can always cast buzz bombs for coho.  Jig or mooch for chinook in the San Juans.  Not sure about specifics of operating off a sailboat.  You could pick up some GULP! Saltwater baits and go for bottom fish.
 

Thanks Demonick!  That information helps a lot. I think I might just keep the gear at home and stick with pasta for the trip. 

What about bringing a crab pot or two? 

BTW MA 11 and MA 13 both are open for coho and chinook. Check regs for more details.
