B, I think this is your dept.

Would be a nice upgrade to the site if we could post more types of video formats. I recently started working with Final Cut Express and as far as I can tell it won't do MPEG. Numerous editing programs export as MPEG 4 or Quicktime. More than a few members have iphones that shoot m4v, would be cool if they could upload direct w/out cooking it to something else.

Looks like the Kodak Playsport uses QT, and Pentax Optio and Olympus Stylus use AVI.

Regular old MPEG seems to be going the way of the dodo bird. Might have to make the max file size a little bigger too, I dunno? Just a thought.

thanks,
Anthony

Hosting videos and photos here is somewhat unnecessary with all the easily accessible and usable video and photo sharing sites.  It's easy enough to just link to the content from here.  Bandwidth and storage costs money.  This site is free to you.  Do the math.   ::)

yeah I get your point P^2,

I just don't really want to get a YouTube account because in principle I think they suck. Why should they profit from content other people invest their sweat equity in creating. Also I'm not interested in a world wide audience, I would just rather share with other NWKA. But I understand the costs involved are prohibitive at this juncture, I did the math.

Try vimeo.com if you don't like youtube.  It seems a little more targeted towards professionals or serious hobbyists, imho.

Youtube will actually start paying you after you start getting enough hits per day btw.  ;)

I get your point though.

IPhone and PlaySport are what i'm using as well (just got the playsport last week)

I'd not want to upload here just because of how much of a server hit that'd be! Let a place with the horsepower to do so do the hosting.  There are several options out there.

Have you done any editing with the playsport footage yet? What do you use? That software that comes with the Kodak is funky.
