I'm curious what folks are wearing on their feet while kayak angling in the Northwest?  Particularly for folks who use waders.

I've got my river sandals and some neoprene socks (fine for mildly cold water/weather).  I also have some NRS neoprene booties (better for cold weather).  More to the point though, I have couple sets of waders, including a wonderful pair of Patagonia's (I use them for fly fishing the Deschutes).  I'd like to use them for kayak fishing as well, but the only footwear I have that will fit over the neoprene feet are my big clunky wading boots.

What do other folks use?

Don't think I am much help with the wader issue but, I have a pair of the Sealskins full length socks from NRS I wear under my neo booties. I stay warm and dry all day long.
I think a pair of oversized booties may be what would work for you? Usually under $20.

I was using a pair of croc knock-offs one size too big and they were much better than my wading boots. Then I found some really cool neoprene slip-ons at Sam's Club (think Costco) in San Diego. They look like aqua socks but are thicker and have a much better (heavier) sole. I got them a size too big and they go great on my wader's. They were "Lewis and Clark" brand and were $16 bucks  :o   I  have not looked at Costco, but they seem to carry a similar mix.

One problem with them specifically with the Hobie. My feet get tingly after a while when I'm pedaling. Sometimes to the point where I have to take them off. I think it must have something to do with the way the toe strap/pedal and shoe interact. It never happens walking.

In any event, either of those worked better for me than my wading boots.
Wading boots actually work fine as long as your not waving your feet around in the air like in a Hobie.  ;D

Yeah I think somehow how we're sitting in Hobie's and having your feet up makes you get tingly feet. It happens to me every once in a while. I usually try not to use the footstraps though and just lay my feet on top of them. I find them a bit constricting on the toes.

About footwear I've got a pair of oversized Crocs that are kind of more like shoes.

They're really light and comfy and still give me room to bulk up under my waders if the weather's a bit chilly. There's a great deal on them now @ Campmor.com for $40. http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=39298439&memberId=12500226

footnote:

I took the inserts (insoles?) out of my "Lewis and Clarks" and they fit MUCH better. No more numb feet!

Z, my wife has a pair of croc's in every color. Been trying to get me to try 'em  for a couple of years. Maybe now is a good time and reason to.

boxofrain,

DON'T DO IT!!!!
You'll never take them off.
Costco had them on sale a couple of weeks ago for $20. I ended up with a pair that match my boat. ::)

Don't worry, nobody will talk bad about you unless you plug the "scuppers" with jibbitz. ;D

They sure are some comfy buggers. It's funny that we don't even use our feet much but lightweight unrestrictive shoes makes you feel a whole lot better.

croc mocs that match the boat for shore and launching then its bare feet in the prowler- if i have to i do the shoe change wiggle in the boat and put on neoprene socks  (i hate shoes)
plus if you fall off the boat- the crocs will keep one part of you at the surface- oh wait thats what a pfd is for... never mind!  :D
