I have the 850---has been a reliable and dependable performer in the yak, always get a reply when ask for a radio check.  It does float, I keep it in the front pocket of my Hobie (actiually a Stohlquist) vest when in the boat.  On sale at West Marine.

WOW! I just got to reading this. Great job Spot, youre friend was lucky to have a man of your caliber around.
I see the need for a throwbag.
Are there any more with the NWKA logo? I would rather buy from here than...there.

I just read this. I love carnage stories when they end well!

I just picked up one of these units: http://salamanderpaddlegear.com/product/salamander-golden-retriever-throw-bag

It's a combo waist mounted throw bag and also a short tow tether. Pretty much the shiznit for surf and ww when you might need to chuck a bag or clip on and tow out of the carnage zone. especially nice with the waist mount for easy access.

I did add a length of shock cord to the but of the tow and a quick release ball to the belt clip.

I just did it up w/ a Sharpie for the Water Patrol for our rockfish & salmon tournaments last year. Would be neat though.
