I think the only thing you can target in the Satsop right now is really late hatchery coho, or 'trout' over 14", which is really screwed up because that means you could get away with fishing for native steelhead.   Above the bridge at the state park is closed.

As for Westport, you could target surf perch and rockfish.

Bounce curly tailed plastic jigs off the bottom. I really like 6" Berkley Saltwater Gulp in all white or sardine colors. You'll want to launch at either slack tide or the last of the out going tide, and fish the incoming tide. Be mindful of the surf size/frequency too. ConeHeadMuddler is our resident Westport jetty expert. He has the "when" all figured out. Shoot him a PM if he doesn't chime in here, and I'm sure he would be more than happy to fill you in.

I don't think rock fish are really that finicky. Pretty sure that if your presentation looks like an easy meal they don't have to work for it'll get eaten.

You might want to put the weight on a length of leader between the mainline and the bait leader.  Putting the weight on the mainline can be a problem when the weight gets snagged up.

I was surfing on my 8' longboard yesterday. Small waves inside the harbor entrance. This surfing is stealing time from my yak fishing.... from all my fishing!

Nothing wrong with that my friend.  Glad to hear you're back a board!
