Update and new camera (s):
It was always a challenge to get the camera aimed just so. In fact, I got the Sanyo not-so-waterproof video cam because it had a flip screen for self portraits. They were great while they lasted ::)

I replaced it (them) with the little Kodak Playsport and a remote. That took care of using the timer, but no front display.

Then one Tuesday, while I was trying to come up with some mirrored contraption to reflect the tiny view screen to the front so I could frame the picture, Mike, the newly minted kayak fishing monster in my office, said "just stick a little piece of plexi mirror on the face of the camera near the lens with velcro and if you can see yourself, then your framed" (well duhh!)

I could not find any plexi mirror (welder's use them) so I bought a compact mirror set from the Dollar Store and used a rubber band to hold it in place. Works great! pics to follow.

Right on!  I've actually been kinda on the lookout for a small mirror to do just the same...

Definitely interested in how you have it rigged. The simple solutions always seem best.

Awesome idea, thanks for sharing.  I am hoping there is a new Playsport for me under the Craigmas tree on Friday.  Now to steal a make-up-thingy from my wife for the mirror.
