OK, the trend in fuel prices combined with my limited time, since I’ve started going to college again, equate to the all of my fishing plans centered on the Willamette river this spring. I’m going to try some spring Chinook fishing for the first time in a couple weeks, and am in the process of setting up a trolling rig. I'm setting things up similar to Spot's article titled "the rig" . However, In my research I see some folks like to use konezone style flashers while others do not for springers. What say you, experienced kayak fishermen? advantages dis-advantages to both?

My time out there for springers is limited but have used Kone Zone flashers extensively. They have very low drag and very appropriate for kayak fishing. Almost everyone out there uses a flasher so I'd say if it's not broke..

Those new KZ flashers are cool.  8)

They have a "baitfish" laser etched onto the reflective tape so it looks like the outline of a fish in the flash. The ones he had at the show were one size bigger than the size we typically use. I hope he shrinks that pattern down for us. Fish might bite your flasher instead of the bait!

It depends a little on where you plan to fish.  I don't fish the herring much, but when I do I often run a flasher, mostly in the lower river.  Above Sellwood I leave the flashers at home as the increase in current can cause problems for them.  For the willy my vote goes to prawns with a good blade in front of it for one of the most consistent ways to put fish in the box.

Yes, I plan to be around and above the Sellwood area. The bridge is a short drive from my place near Woodstock. My GF also lives in West Linn, so a down river troll with the GF being my shuttle driver is also possible.
