While ODFW has yet to say if the season is still open I am planning on heading out tomorrow to try my luck again.  If anyone wants to join me on the water for a cold and possibly snowy day let me know.

I had planned on it, but was told today that I had to work tomorrow. >:(  I am shooting for Friday.  Hopefully the season will still be open.  You thinking of going again Friday, or do you have to work?

Today was winter fishing at its finest.  My boat and car were covered in snow, and I was dressed for the worst.  I wanted to make today count as I am now a proud owner of a Hobie Revo and my Tarpon 14 is getting retired.  When I got on the water there were a few flakes in the air but otherwise it was nice and calm.  I decided to fish a spot that I have gotten bites before, but never landed a thing.  I dropped my anchor in about 65 ft of water and started fishing.  I saw a nice eagle, a hatchery springer get landed and a sea lion.  Even with the good weather and beautiful scenery I was done fishing and heading home after only 2 hours.
Why did I last only 2 hours?  Because I was killing it and my arms were tired.  Within 15 minutes of fishing I had my first bite.  After a spirited fight, in which the fish made a solid drag burning run, I had nice fish at the side of my boat.  It took me a while to get him onboard and after measuring him a few times to make sure he was legal, I cut the gills on a nice 38.75 incher.  I almost headed home after that but I decided to try for something bigger.  Over the next hour and a half I landed 4 more fish, 2 in the low 30’s and two smaller fish.  I finally called it quits when I hadn’t caught anything in 30 minutes.  I think fate was on my side at the 30 minute mark, as I took a look behind me only to see a large tree heading my way and the sea lion came back.  After pulling my anchor, I paddled around a bit and talked to the guys pursuing salmon.  When I got back to the launch the sun was out and Jammer was there to take some nice pictures of me.
YAY FISHING.

Good job and nice fishy.  Everything I had to do at work today was cancelled.  Unfortunately, I didn't know this would happen until well into the day.   >:(  I really wanted to be fishing.  I will probably go out tomorrow morning to George Rodger's Park and see if I can get a keeper of my own.  Anyone else interested?
