All this talk of halibut fishing and painting jig heads coupled with recounting pics of summer fun has got me all sorts of restless.
I have been thinking of ways to make effective halibut jigs. It would be a bonus if they can be fished with out bait. Here is my latest creation.

It is a 10 oz torpedo with a 12/0 mustad O'shaughnessy, BB swivel, Delta Tackle double glow skirt and Kalin Big'n 10" glow grub.

By attaching at  the top of the weight the skirt and jig should have more action ... or at least that is the plan. I want to try fishing it with a piece of the GULP! strip bait.

Only one way to find out if it works ..... Who want to set up a hook up for Halibut opener?

I know for sure that will work.

Oh ... slather it up with herring oil for good measure!

Would love to chase halibut on the opener, which opener and where.  I've been thinking Diamond Point launch by Protection Island.

It's a good thing I have all summer to fish the jigs I made all winter.  I got boxes and boxes of them.  Making up ling cod, cabezon, and rockfish treats keeps me sain.  Atleast that's what they tell me.....
