With all these lingcod being caught recently I have to ask ..... are they good to eat?
I though they were full of parasites mushy and high in mercury and PCPs....

I just don't understand why so many are killed if they eat like mud .......

Thoughts?

mmmm. My favorite!!

the bigger ones can get a little wormy and mushy but the 22-28 inch range are the best, IMO.
See ya on the water..

I'll let you know if they taste like mud since that's what I'm having for dinner tonite. Anyway with all those chemicals, I'm hoping(sarcastic) that radiation from Japan make them more Godzilla like in size and that they have 3 heads for a better chance of a Slamo Fish On. Take care Bill.

Are you saying that Fungunnin is playing troll?? >:D

They're damn tasty.

I wouldn't want to subsist on any Puget Sound residential fish. (Google reports about resident Orcas.) That said, I doubt they're any worse for you than Willamette sturgies.

A meal or two a year is going to be less risky.

I'm even less worried about fish from the coast, WA or OR.

What's wrong with that?  Catfish, carp, and sturgeon end on many peoples' dinner plates; they eat muck and taste great.  Personally, I am a huge fan of cooking my whitefish in a southern-style fish fry complete with hush puppies and country ham (when I'm able to get some shipped in from Harper's in Tennessee).
