Planning on testing a revo and adventure this next weekend at NW Hobie Cat.  The wife is caving in on letting me make the purchase (and hold on to the Trident 11).

Clearly these are all the same price at any dealer, anything I should know from the experts??  Packages etc...

10H,
I'm not sure what kind of deals are available up in Seattle, but if you were to journey 180 miles south to Portland, Next Adventure has a 10% off any and all accessories with the purchase of a yak. They also have a few 2010 Hobie's left at 10% off the kayak and 10% off accessories. Call and ask for Nate or Bryon at Next Adventure Paddle Center 503.445.9435.
Cheers

Your in the right direction looking at Hobies already so not much difference between dealers. Buy from who you like and treats you the best. If you buy a boat any good retailer should give you 10 % off all the extra gear you buy too like Next Adventure does.

Enjoy the new ride...
See ya on the water..

Also any thoughts about these two boats?  I am parring with a 11 foot prowler, so I am leaning towards the Addy.

Do a search on the forum, plenty of info about the Hobies.  I have had the Adventure and the Revolution, I think the Revo is the better all-around boat, the Adventure is a little (notice---littlebit, not significant amount) faster and just a bit less initial stability.  Addy a little heavier, maybe 5#, not a deal breaker but my shoulders can tell the difference in hoisting it on top of the truck canopy.   After you paddle them both the answer will be clear, pretty hard to buy a boat without some time in the cockpit.  The 2010 Addy has a much nicer rudder lift and drop mechanism, a handle for each.  MY older (2009) revo had some rudder issues, sometime hard to raise or lower it.  Not the case with the 2010 Addy.

I hate to make vendors suffer for politics, but on a $2000 purchase, sales tax is a major expense.

Is your sales tax in seattle really 9.5%

The Local Sales & Use Tax Rates & Changes lists all the rates within the state of Washington by county.  If you’re looking for Seattle, go to King County, and then find Seattle.  The location code for Seattle is 1726 and the combined tax rate is 9.5%.  The 9.5% sales tax rate is collected and then distributed as follows:

6.5% goes to the state of Washington.
2.6% goes to the City of Seattle.
0.4% goes to the Regional Transit Authority (RTA).

These 3 rates add up to the 9.5% combined rate for the city of Seattle.

Are the other counties and cities near Seattle as high in tax?

9.5% of $2000= $190 for Seattle tax. Come and spend the day with your brothers and sisters in Oregon, we can take you fishing, put you up for a night and send you home with tax free toys and maybe a cooler with some fish... haha

No but really, we should do a fisherman exchange program. Maybe a group of us come into your neck of the woods for a weekend, then switch with a group that comes to oregon for the weekend. Just a thought!

I think tournament venues would be a good starting point.

But yeah, 200$ is a lot of money, even with gas as high as it is, you still save by driving to Portland to buy a big ticket item.

...and of course OR'ers can buy anywhere taxfree
http://apps.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=82.08.0273

(1) The tax levied by RCW 82.08.020 does not apply to sales to nonresidents of this state of tangible personal property, digital goods, and digital codes, when such property is for use outside this state, and the purchaser (a) is a bona fide resident of a state or possession or Province of Canada other than the state of Washington and such state, possession, or Province of Canada does not impose a retail sales tax or use tax of three percent or more or, if imposing such a tax, permits Washington residents exemption from otherwise taxable sales by reason of their residence, and (b) agrees, when requested, to grant the department of revenue access to such records BLA BLA BLA

so WA'ers in Vancouver shoppers make out OK, sorry bout the RainyCity folk
