I hit one of the small lakes in the Boise today. This was my first trip out in my Hobie Quest. I hooked a few bass using motor oil colored tube jigs. They were holding tight to the heavy brush along the shoreline. Each one wrapped me up in the sticks and got away as I was using my crappie pole with 4# test and could not horse them out. The heavier outfit that I brought along lost a screw early on. At one point I saw large bubbles boiling up near me and I started thinking, "Alligator in Idaho?" Two scuba divers popped up and scared the crap out of me. Even though I did not land any fish, I had a great time and am definately hooked on kayak fishing.

Great pics Idafish.  Scuba diving and Idaho are words that are not frequently used together I would think.  Gotta love da bass.

Just remember a man fishing out of a kayak is as strange to them as they were to you...

It turns out that this is a very popular pond with the local scuba divers as well as the local law enforcement divers. Very deep, fairly clear, rocky bottom. They told me that it was loaded with crawdads so the ol crawdad trap is coming out.
