WTF is salt fog?

It's when the water is warmer than the air and it condenses making it hard to see... ;D

I have no idea what "salt fog" is and how it differs from "fresh fog" (other than the obvious).  All I'm interested in is the 30 minutes at 1 meter submersion and that better be salt, fresh, brackish, or beer. I did have an issue with my G z one (I've been told thats what your supposed to call it) Brigade in <1 meter of brackish water for < than 5 minutes.  But they replaced it with no grief.

Here in Newport it's what we refer to as Beach Grease and why we have to replace metal outdoor fixtures, especially lighting about every 3 years!

I've just never heard that term.  I grew up across the street from the ocean in South Carolina, but we didn't have a name for it other than 'salt'.  I remember one winter storm (nor easter) that it blew 70-90 mph winds and 3 days later when the lines started drying, the power started going out.  Fun.

I like to idea of a durable phone. They always seem pretty delicate in my hands (or pockets). Other than that, the most interesting feature to me is the GPS/Compass mode. Can it take a launch waypoint and return you to it? And Wali, I saw it has tides!

But, 95% humidity for 24 hours? Are you sure that's going to hack it in Florida?!?  :dontknow:

 :D Nice!

Salt Fog.  That's what caused a perpetual layer of film on my truck when I lived in Ocean Beach for a couple years.  It would especially get bad in the winter months from the storms.  That's probably one of the biggest turnoffs I come up with when I think about wanting to live on the coast again.  That, and the whole tsunami thing.   ::)

ok ok, i'll play too..... it's the test medium used to simulate long term saltwater exposure such as living on a coast, in a laboratory in a short time frame. heavier denser salt concentration in the fluid/mist than what you would find in actual life.

Natick Labs,[ our tax dollars really put to good use ,btw] the peeps who write the MilSpecs for all military equipment, actually had published 5 different Milspecs just for the salt fog fluid to use for testing, and another 4 milSpecs for actual equipment usages.

i'm due for a new phone upgrade, so now can i go look? huhn? huhn? can i ? can i?
