I'm thinking seriously about going out of Fred's Marina just mile or two below the St John's bridge in the early morning. I don't know where the best spots might be but it sounds as good as any.

I might be game but I'd have to make it a late afternoon trip. Are you thinking the Willy or the Columbia?

I'm thinking the Willy right where the Multnomah Channel joins the Willamette. Fred's Marina is about 400 yards down the channel and an easy paddle up to the Willamette. Also the channel is good fishing right from the dock all the way up to the Willamette.  Cost is $5 to launch but a pretty good facility, even has a little store with ice for your fish (got to stay optimistic!).  I think I will be out there early but if there are fish biting I will probably stay into the afternoon as I have the whole day lined out. Some good sand beaches right there too if you need a break. I hope you can come Noah.

I'm leaning toward fishing the Columbia right off of Kelley point from around 4:00-8:00. PM me is anyone would like to join me.

I will try and make it up there, still searching for the elusive car keys so no promises.  Hit the water this evening and the fish were holding between 15' and 25'.  The tidal shift was very noticeable and the stage is pretty high, from when I launched four days ago it is up ~7'.

Finally I had a "lucky" day on the river. I had two salmon by about noon. I don't know what if anything I did differently today but the fish seemed to find my herring.  I guess it paid to get onto the river early for a change.

Nicely done Daveo. I fished George Rogers around Hog Island from 7am to 4:30pm today and didn't even get a bite. There were a few other boats around but I didn't even hear of a fish caught.

I went to put in at the Gilbert River Boat Ramp around 5 this afternoon and the entrance to the parking area was crazy flooded. I put on my waders to check how high it was and got all the way up to my hips so I decided to turn around and head back. Anybody been up to this boat ramp and know why it would be flooded? I know we have had some rain in the last few days but it didn't seem like it should have caused that much flooding.

On a side note there were a lot of big splashes coming from the weeded areas under water. Not sure if it would have been carp from the adjacent lake or bass or what but they were splashing all over the place. Alas I only brought my salmon gear. Wish I had brought some hula poppers or worms. I could have fished from my kayak over the road to the parking lot.

Great job Dave! You certainly put your time in and it paid off!

I fished the Columbia across from Kelley Point with no luck from 4:00 to 8:00. It was double bad luck as I dropped my favorite ultra lite rod in the river. Only saw one other boat so maybe I wasn't in the best spot. Still a great day, saw a bald eagle and a family of osprey.

Great job!  two?  I've been lucky to catch fish but never seem to be more than one decent fish per day so far this year!

They opened up the dams on the Columbia to make more room for the massive amount of snow runoff still expected. Columbia is running at near flood stage for a couple weeks. It's backed the willy up 6 feet deeper in milwaukie/lake oswego area. All the rivers are fishing very differently this week from last week. It's time to keep an open mind and try a lot of different techniques. The temp on the willy has bounced back up to 53-54 as of yesterday. This should help our bite. Mix it up! Let's see some good fish porn this weekend. Get out if you
can. Tight lines!
