Found this stuff on the Gander Mt. outlet page. $6 for 150 yrd. 10# to 50#  Mostly good reviews. The bad ones say things like: won't hold a knot;color; comes off; flat; noisy; birdnest city.

The only ones that give me pause are noisy(er) and flat. The rest could be chalked up to user error.

Being the cheap bastisch that I am, I can see using a uni-uni to fill the reel or even better, using that as a top shot on some equivalent test mono. (I don't cast more than 100 yards too often) ;)

Anybody use this stuff and hate it? Otherwise I feel a "Give me the helmet. I'll be the stunt man" moment coming on.

I'm a tightwad too but you be the test driver. Got to meet you someday. Sounds like we are both kibbutzers
and would hit it off. As for lines. After 2 rt eye operations and a steroid injection directly in the eye last week, I can't see for FECES. I could sit you on my left arm and pull the strings and you can tie Uni's, Albrights and keep me knotted up in laughter. I'll still let you talk :o. Only appropriate ;D

I've used spiderwire, not sure it's ez braid but it's braided and like it.  A little tough to break off when you get hung up if it's the terminal knot.  I'm gonna check the site.  Thanks for the tip.

Hey Wali.I run this in 30# on my salmon rod and it's been great. Plenty strong, doesn't fray easy and will actually break off when needed. The color did bleed out a little but I don't see how that's an issue. Knots were fine, but I'm not sure what being noisy is? I really like it and would 100% run it again.

Put on the helmet, Wali. I appreciate your willingness to sacrifice for the benefit of the rest of us.

Seeing as I live in a backwater, I don't see much of a selection of fishing products in the local stores. I'm lucky if anyone has some braided line hanging on the wall when I look for some.

The EZ says it's made of Dyneema, which is a good thing. The regular edition Spiderwire is fused, making it stiffer than non-fused lines. I like it for ultra-light jigging on my spinning reels. Not too much rodtip wrapping and other bad behaviors. Love how it slices through the salad materials. I can't tell if the EZ is fused or not- if not, it may be fussy to handle in the small diameters.

I've used it before, about two years ago.  It was indeed flat, and lost it's color very quickly.  Kinda waxy too.

Is that a "no don't waste your time" Lee?

For me, yes.  That said, everyone expects a different level of quality and performance from their gear.  Maybe it's right for you, but for me, it doesn't come close to power pro, and I stick to that now, until I find something better.  I still have the remainder of a roll of berkely firewire braid, and I use it for repairing stuff, and keep it in my trunk just in case I need to patch something, tie something down, or forget to bring my dental floss camping.

I bought some 50# Power Pro off a guy on Bloody Decks that had a pile of it for $15 per 300 yrds

Currently nice prices on 1500 yd spools of PowerPro.  I bought a moss green 50# a few years ago and am about halfway through it.

Moss green is $90/1500 yds either 30# or 50#.
Hi-vis yellow is $115.

I too am a BIG fan of powerpro. It's been my goto line since before I moved up to Oregon. I've tried a few others and none have been as supple and round.
That said, I'm a sucker for a deal. :P  I have 4 rolls of the firewire ez briad on their way and I'll post the results.

Noah: Noisy, as in that noise that the line makes going through the guides. All braid is louder than mono, but noisier would be really irritating. I'm just hoping it not tooo flat as that really sucks on spinning reel.

I unspooled a reel of powerpro after 3 seasons of use.  I had no confidence in it after loosing a springer due to my main line breaking this spring.  Not only that, in 3 seasons, that line didn't catch a single fish...

Went back to Fireline and a week later it landed a fat springer.  Call it coincidence but confidence is everything in this game.

Spot is spot on. Confidence is huge and PP 50lb braid delivered the Halibut and Sturgeon for me. Know if I could only see well enough to tie an Albright, Uni, or Palomar knot I'd have 100% confidence.

Dude, when we fish together I'll tie your knots.   But ... you have to put on your own sunscreen!
