So, I bought a couple of kayaks from pelagic paddler for my wife and I. I'm a long time fisherman. I love fishing for just about anything other than stocked trout. I am totally jacked about taking the kayak out of depot bay or pacific city one of these days when I get a little more kayak mojo under my belt (used to hit these all the time out of a dory growing up).  I decided to take it easy for my first outing and hit a local slough. I learned a few lessons.

1. Wind sucks.
2. Wind really sucks.
3. Don't forget your seat.
4. I need an anchor.

Well, I caught a small army of little panfish, but not one of them was a hair longer than 5 inches. I still had a great time and can't wait to get out more this summer. The next trip will be with my 6 year old daughter in the boat. I can't wait!

I bought a Hobie Tandem Island, wind does NOT suck if you have a sail! Truth be told I'm a novice kayak fisherman and am looking to learn from this forum. The TI is so much fun I want to be on the water every day, especially if there's some wind. My favorite kind of fishing is fly fishing with poppers for bass. I'm originally from New Orleans and am looking for tips on finding bass in SW Washington.

Actually, wind does not suck. It blows.

The mirage drive will let you hold a position a bit easier and a sail is just plain fun.

For those not so blessed (yet),  drift chutes are worth their weight in gold if you're paddling.  I use an Ikea shopping bag with a 1/4" hard plastic tube shoved into the hem to hold it open.  They really slow your troll. Works great to carry my gear too.

Gotta live the combination Swedish shopping bag/ drift chute, that things sweet!
If it wasn't for flashbacks, I'd have no memories at all.

I just get so much joy from hearing of FFTW's inventions. Seriously, sir, you need a book deal.

I'm originally from New Orleans and am looking for tips on finding bass in SW Washington.

I owned some property with my best friend in NOLA for many years.  Been there a lot of times and fished the marsh out of Delacroix for redfish and trout.  Some of the property was in the lower Garden district on Annunciation just up hill from the conference center.  The others were in Arabi and Meraux.  The city properties survived the hurricanes, the others were inundated.  Subsequently my friend died, and I miss him and the fishing we did down there.  He brought in a 42 pound redfish once.
