In the key of Beverhilly hillbillies....

About a man name CBY
did something on the Mxkenzie that made him really cry

Launched at greenwood to catch salmon in the pool and
landed upside down floating like a damn fool

Stupid that is...,nothing leashed...lost it all(Mirage Drive)...

Well the next thing ya know Dana drug him to side
choking on some water and big ole chunk of pride,

I complained to Dana this is not the place i wanna be
So i loaded up my yak and drove home dejectedly

Sad that is..hate myself...Really depressed

when i got home i put an add on craiglist
To see if anyone could retreive the thing i miss

In a couple of days got a call from Jim
hes a diver in the area  and he can really swim

dive that is....really deep...find lost things

So the story is not so sad as you can seeeee
my fraking mirage drive is coming back to meeee.... :banjo:

....

So, i got lucky, i only "thought" i was drowning and i was soooo lucky to get my mirage back. And he's going back next week, i may get it all back. The list of shit i did wrong is long and i don't want to go over it ad nauseum but just:

leash your fraking stuff if you want to keep it

check the tightness of your pfd straps so it doesn't try to drown you instead of save you.

don't let your eagerness to catch a fish overwhelm your better judgement. I don't think i have ever done that before but i did this time.

The only reason this wasn't more harrowing was that Dana and 3 driftboats were close so i'm sure i would have not drowned. I'm sure some smartass will post up a pic of the newly named rapids...

I can't believe how fast this happened i was holding out hope to maybe get it back someday when the river went down but was expecting the worse. what are the odds?

Jim made 120 bucks, i got my baby back..fair dinkum

Holy cow! And some literary entertainment to boot. That is very good news.

Last time out I was looking at my pfd straps thinking that it was going to slip if I fell in. Gonna tighten them right now!!!

Glad to see first that you are safe, second that you are getting your " baby" back!

Holy Schmokes! That's a harrowing story! The turtle factor must be something like 4x when paddleing/peddling on these rivers around here. Sucks you lost some gear, but glad you are okay none the less. Getting the Mirage is a BONUS! Lets hope you have better luck catching Salmon in your back yard this weekend at the AOTD tourney.

I got a knot in my stomach when I turned around and saw Roy's Kayak floating down the river upside down then I saw Roy hanging on to the side ;D.  I went over and gave him a hand getting to shore and then went and collected everything that floated while Roy warmed up on the rocks.  I'm real glad your OK Roy.

Below are pictures of Roy's Rapids (newly named) and a picture of Roy's drive after he stored it on the bottom of the McKenzie river for 5 day's.  I'm surprised that Jim the diver was able to find the drive.  He's also going back to see if he can find more of Roy's gear.
