Somewhere lately somebody had a thread going about what to wear now that it is COLD!  A sea kayaking store in SEA area was mentioned as a good source of clothing and I remember going to the site and seeing they not only had good gear but apparently would modify it for us folks whose leg lengths didn't keep up with the belly size.

Anyway, I lost the info I thought I had filed and hope this rings a bell .....got too cold in the Columbia River last week and it was pretty nice out then compared to now.
Thanks,
Mike

Sounds like perhaps you might be talking about Kayak Academy (http://www.kayakacademy.com/)

If you are in the Portland area, might also want to check out stuff in-store at Next Adventure or Andy and Bax.

I got a pretty nice Extrasport dry top at Next Adventure for $170 bucks.  My current kayak wear is to layer some synthetic clothes under my Patagonia waders, then the dry top over that (sealed with a wading belt and the neoprene waist if the dry top.)

If you sign up for REI online they might send you a 15% off coupon (Mine did).  I just used my coupon to get a Kokatak Supernova Semi-Dry suit.  All the talk on this board about dry suits appealed to my "chicken-shit" side.  Took only 2 days to arrive.  I orderd a size bigger than I normally do so I can layer up underneath.  Seems a bit more baggy that I thought it would, but I like my clothes comfortable.  Now just have to figure out where to go in the Portland area.

slbrow6,
I hear you talking about throwing caution to the winds and opting for safety.  Being a rookie at this whole thing I figure;    if I get a dry suit -
and keep the PFD on -
and ever get the dang seat adjusted where I dont feel like I am doing an extended sit-up for the whole trek -
....maybe then I can get unclenched long enough to relax on the yak.

Who knows, I might get good enough to consider taking a fishing rod with me by Spring.
Peace
Mike
