Willapa Bay salmon fishing

I worked in Willapa Bay for Coast/Taylor Shellfish and saw tons of PB's catching salmon in the north part of the bay around Tokeland. Tokeland is a good place to launch from, a bit of a drive but much closer to the action than the South Bend Boat ramp for a kayak. As far as I could tell from watching a few catches, the PB's were slowly trolling with 6"-12" flashers on ~2-4' leaders with cut herring.

There's a decent campground at Tokeland, I plan to spend the first few days of September there.  Here's a link from Salmon U for Willapa:

predicted return is about 37,000 kings and 115,000 silvers.

Might be able to join you after the Sept 7th as we will be in Edmonds crabbing and fishing over the holiday.  Get my Outback on Saturday so will have some time to get experience with it before Sept.

CHM< yer welcome:  South bend ramp is a loooooong paddle out to the fish, though.  Best for pb.  Here's Smith Creek launch, moderately low tide.  Conehead, let's get together first week September---

   I will be living outside of Raymond starting the 1st of September.And I will be fishing the Willapa River ---a lot this year.Also the Palix,the Nehmah,the Nasselle,and a select few Grays Harbor rivers.Bring it on......
   I'll be working in Alaska,up on the North Slope,in Prudhoe Bay.My work scheduale is 3 weeks on/3 weeks off.And during those 3 weeks off there will be lots of fishing going on.At the present time I have 3 kayaks and a mini-drift-boat.Another  power boat is in the future but that'll take a few months to acquire.Feel free to contact me and let's go get some Willapa Kings..........
