Depoe Bay 7/26-27 (now with a pic)

I am heading to the OR coast with a friend this week. Weather looks decent all week. Looks like we will be fishing Depoe Bay if anyone is interesting in tagging along.

Was thinking of camping at Chinook Bend unless anyone here knows of another good campground in the area.

Beverly Beach is closer and where i would stay if it wasn't a huge gathering like the ORC.

Yep,thats the one, nice place..

Might be smart to check about getting a reservation.  State Parks along the coast are mega busy right now.  Cape Lookout State park has been "full" for the last week plus.

Damn this makes me sad. I'm leaving in a couple hours to stay with my grandparents in Renton and Kent Washington till Saturday. I really wish I could have joined you.

I'm leaving tomorrow morning for an afternoon bit of fishing at Depoe. Looks like 7/26 - 7/27 will be fishing.

Got back from Depoe. It was pretty rough both days, 6' swells with ~15kt winds. It was my friend's first kayak fishing trip in water like this and he was puking both days but managed to catch some nice BRFs and some underlings.

My Adventure had some rudder control problems. The handle w/ set screw (older model Hobie) popped off the cam. The brass insert became separated from the plastic and would not stay in. So for most of the trip I was rudder-less. The Adventure tracks surprisingly well with no rudder so it didn't matter too much. When the handle fell out, I must have lost the spring and washer that goes with it. Looks like the Adventure is out of commission till I get new parts 

Even with rough seas and lack of rudder I still managed to catch plenty of fish. 26" ling, 2 x BRF's, 2 x greenlings. I took one picture of the pile of fish, will post later.
