Hi, Just registered at this forum. Names Roy, Im in Coos Bay. my buddy Ralph picked up a Hobie Mirage outback fish today and I'm getting mine tomorrow. Really just fell in love with this kayak after i went and saw Ralph's today. I have never Kayak fished, and have not boat fished that much . Ralphs done alot of boat fishin, but no kayak fishing . We are gonna go to a nice calm lake and pedal around with no gear, get the feel for it.

Looking forward to getting some input on gear and accessories you guys find essential for all aspects of kayaking/Fishing.

If anyone is on here from the area send me a message, lets go fishin...

See Ya, Roy
See ya on the water..

My mother works for the College down there, and just recently purchased a nice house on 3.5 acres in southern Coos Bay.  There are a TON of really nice lakes along 101 that I'd like to check out on my way down to visit her sometime.  Clear Lake, North and South Ten Mile, to name a few.  However, if I head down there this winter, it'll most likely be to help out around her new house, which the previous owners trashed.  It needs a ton of work, and being the manual slave labor I am, my energy will likely need to be spent doing stuff there and not kayaking.

If this changes, I'll let you know.  I do plan to go down there in the spring and do some lake fishing, and possibly fool around in the bay.

How Ya'll Are!?
Welcome coosbay!
what a great area for a Yak owner!
Been there a few times and paddled with a fellow inspector (no fishing).
lotsa places you can anchor and fish the channels that flow into the many arms of the estuary.
I would certainly have me a set of crab traps before Dec 1st!
I plan on staying at Loon Lake this winter for a couple of days, just to get out on the Yak when the river is too high and the Ocean too rough.
Maybe we can hook up then.
Cheers

Thanks for the welcomes, I am too looking forward to kayaking all the lakes, estuaries and the bay..

Clear lake is a no access lake BTW, Dont want ya to get busted. Every time i drive by that lake i think of the big, big, big fish that must be in there from years of no fishing..I'm sure some idiots have snuck in , but i never would.

The new kayak is awesome.Didn't get a chance to get it wet yet.Tomorrow should be the maiden voyage.Right now its in my living room, im getting ready to sit in it and read the literature...

Ralph's never had the internet..Still uses a typewriter on occasion, only because he got a computer(Ralph's electric typewriter), otherwise he would use it alot. He finally got a newer vehicle after driving a Volkswagen bus for 27 years.

So, in other words he finally, Begrudgingly embraced the 20th century....

Except for his fancy new Hobie Kayak...

I took a couple pics of the kayak and the Mirage Drive.
