Crossing the Grays Harbor bar with a broken steering handle.

Watch out for heavy breathing and a "holy shit" or two that I just couldn't bring myself to edit out. Ok ok, just mute the video  . It was a little scary as I got caught in 2 breakers around 2:00 and 4:00.

Right after a big ling snapped 30# braid the handle broke! Besides the technical difficulties, caught couple of rockfish, underlings and a red irish lord.

Looks like I'll be carrying spare handle w/ allen wrench in addition to the spare rudder pin.

Something between fun and scary, for me at least.

Everything is fine until the 8' waves break on you!!

There definitely is some pucker factor there.  Scary to think had this been three years ago, I might have been out there with ya!  lol.  I can remember motoring in my power boat off to one side of some BIG standing waves in that area that had to be 8ft plus and watching porpoises cruise in and out of them.  Probably more suited for a whitewater kayak...

Sounds like some good fishing!

Yee-haw!

Sorry to hear about the broken handle, definitely not the best time for that to happen.
