I'm with Demonick.....the Garcia Ambassadeurs are my BC reel of choice.  As a self admitted eBay addict, you can only guess where I go to get another one.

I've had the Garcia reels---if you can get the ones made in Sweden, they are the best Garcia offers.  But follow demonick's procedure and grease the snot out of them!!!  And be anal about rinsing, and storing them with drag loose.

I've owned what seems like very model and style of BC reels out there.  My new "favorite" is the avet SX 2 speed.

But if you were to look back at all my purchases over the past 3 or 4 decades, I bet 2/3 of the BC reels I have bought have been the Abu Garcia reels with most of those being the 6500  which I have found suitable for everything including big Kenai River Kings.  I always seem to go back to them.

5500 = Bit small for most of my fishing but with the braided lines I may take another look.

6500= Go to reel.

6501=left handed. Used to use it a lot for Kenai River Kings.  Not as much anymore.  Used to like the strong arm  (right handed) on the rod for big fish.

6500=c4  High speed version.  Works great for most applications.  Terrible for pulling plugs, divers, or cranking up heavy jigs or weights any distance due to gear ratio.

7000= Too big and took too much line for most of applications.  Great reel though.  Lasted forever.

I may pick up one with a line counter for my trolling application.  We will see.  I didn't realize all the different "round reel" models they had now.

Hard to go wrong though for the price!  Can be rebuilt anywhere it seems for cheap.
