I'll be in the Seattle area over the long weekend, with family, boat and gear. I'll probably be able to get out for at least part of one day, most likely on Sunday. (I'll get bonus points for taking Janni. ::))

Ideas-

Chums in the S. Sound.
Crabs & BM in the Sound
Sturgies at the mouth of the Snoho?

Any others?

Saturdays Puget Sound forecast is looking a little rough- Sunday is supposed to be the best day of the weekend. How flexible is your schedule, Allen?

I'd be interested in checking out some squid action Sat. evening. Here's JuicyJigs's pier listings- http://www.juicyjigs.com/piers They are all on the west side of the Sound. I know there are also a couple in Seattle and the Edmonds.

Not sure what to shoot for on Sunday, but am inclined for a crab/salmon trip, maybe to PNP or the west side of Whidbey.

Any other ideas or takers?

It seems that the blackmouth fishing is really picking up.  I will probably get out one morning this weekend on Bainbridge Island.  Got a few spots that have been active in the past.  Trolling has always worked.  Might try jigging this year too.
Anybody interested in a bit o' fishin on this side?

The weather is perfect.
The water is perfect.
The current is perfect.
The tide is perfect.

Sounds nice. I'm hoping to kick this cold by then and if I can I'd like to make it out that way. I'll keep you posted.

Sat. evening and Sun. morning look to be the lull in the weather this weekend.

I read of limits of squid at Seattle piers.

Zed, where and when on Bainbridge?

Well,
I was thinking that Point Monroe would be a good spot.  It is on the north end of the island directly south of Jefferson Head.  The reports from Jeff Head have been very strong.  When there are fish in Kingston, Pt. Monroe gets em too.  Plus, I have a place to park and put in up there.  Either Fay Bainbridge State Park, which is close by, or one of my client's lives out on the Point and lets me park and launch from their property.  Quite a nice benefit!   ;D
Eagle Harbor is also a good spot.  Ferry comes in and churns up the bait.  Nice and shallow (50 ft. deep at high tide).  When there is bait, there are fish.  The key is bait.  But very easy paddling with some boat traffic.

The tide is 6am on Saturday, if we hit it at 630 or 7, we can fish it for a couple hours.  The early ebb is good for blackmouth and the sun will be rising (through the rain clouds...)  Sounds like a recipe for a good bite.
If anybody is interested, let me know.

Looks a bit nasty out on the sound tomorrow.

Weighing the options ...

I may only have limited time for a short morning session somewhere.

Early Sat is probably out for me, though I'll know better after I rendezvous with the inlaws, tonight.

The weather is not sounding all that great, for boating.

Final Report-

It was breezy around the Sound this morning, but calm at PA. So Janni and I hopped the Edmonds Ferry, did a drive by of PNP (too windy) and headed to Dungeness Spit. It's closed for salmon fishing, but good for it's namesake crabs.

After seeing 3-4' whitecaps during the ferry crossing, it's was a relief to see hardly a ripple on D Bay. We launched the wherry rowboat at the Dungeness Landing Park (where I like to launch for halibut) and headed N towards the light. Lots of traps already and one small kicker with a dad and kid checking they're own traps. We started just a 100 yards east of Graveyard spit, about 1/2 mile from the launch, with 1 trap and a ring. After a lunch we checked and had 1 Dungie in the ring and a small rock in the trap. So we picked up and headed north, and got similar results. Never more than 1 crap a set, until the last when each was loaded with 4 rocks. Ended up with 3 Dungies and 4 Red Rocks. 8)

The wind did eventually kick up late in the afternoon, just as we returned to the launch. After loading everything but the boat, I went to roll it over to empty it out, and a gust hit- while I held on to one rail, it flapped in the wind like a sheet! :o Fortunately, the wind died long enough for me to get it on top and strapped, before gusting again.
