I've had my Hobie since spring and got the turbos installed after only a couple of trips on the water, so wishy-washy is the best I can do. It's hard to do an objective comparison without spending half a day doing short and long distances with a gps and swapping the fins. I can confidently say that they make a big difference in a sprint, but that typically isn't what we do. I'm also confident in saying that the turbos are more efficient, but how much so is hard to tell. You're obviously moving a lot more water with each stroke.

$75? Dunno. If you stick with the "bigger is better" adage, it's a can't miss.

I've thought about them, but might be worth considering how they relate to the boat you have.

If I had a fast hull design, like a Hobie Revolution or Adventure, I think they'd be a good investment.  But my Outback is a barge, and with the turbo fins, it would probably be a slightly faster barge.  Outbacks are all about stability and comfort.

There's a cyclist I know who has an adventure and firmly stands behind the turbo fins. I haven't tested the turbos out but I'm sure they're a little harder to peddle but that will equal a higher average speed. I'd guess your conditioning would have to be there for the upgrade to be well worth it.
