I saw these toys on dispaly at Dollar Tree two weeks ago and have been meaning to go back sooner, but just got back tonight. Fortunately for me, there was one left.

I removed the barbell ends and cut the foam into six 4" pieces, leaving one for my helper to bat around the garage floor.

Then, I used a phillips head screwdriver to bore a hole the length of each one, being careful to keep it centered and also cut six 2' lengths of 550 cord

Next, I used a flat head screwdriver to push the 550 cord from one end to the other as it was doubled over for making a loop.

I tied a knot in the loop end, then slid a flat washer over the tag ends and tied a knot on that end as well. I trimmed the excess tag ends and heated them with a torch to melt them together. The washer was originally added to keep the 550 cord from pulling through, but as it turned out, I don't think the fit is tight enough that would happen.

These are the finished product and I guess it took about forty five minutes to complete them. One will be for a spare as I have a Ocean Kayak Trident T-11 and have my tranducer through one of my scupper holes

Finally, here's the fisheyes view. Because my kayak is hanging from the ceiling, I wasn't able to get the birds eye view, but I'm sure you can imagine how it looks.

Noodles are like the Kayak DIY weapon of choice for many things.

I made scupper plugs a while back for my T-13 with similar material, but have yet to find a reason to use them.
For the life me, I just can't figure out when I would use scupper plugs.  If the water/air is cold, I'm wearing waders and don't care if I get wet.  If the water is warm enough to wear shorts, again I don't care if I get wet.

You'll actually need to upload those pictures to the gallery on the site or some other hosting service in order for them to show up in your post.  The local address on your PC won't work inside the [img] scripts.

Nevermind, you got it.  Awesome idea btw!

I'm roflmao insayn, reading your reply as the whole project was out of boredom. I figured it would be good to have some (like all of the cool kids) and there is no way I'm going to pay retail. Even as I was making them, I was like, Huh...when will I ever use these? If the weather is that nasty, I'm also in a pair of breathable stocking foot waders with a rain jacket over the top and a bilge pump below deck somewhere. I'm not quite rich enough yet to buy a real dry suit and even if I was, I'd probably buy something else. Hell, the bilge pump was a step up from a sponge.

Actually rawk, I need some adult leadership on how to add pictures as my original idea of a tutorial was to have a picture with each step. Not, a bunch of steps followed by a bunch of pictures. I tried using the "insert image" button but as you saw, that failed.  ???

Yeah, I think we need a how-to for posting pics and other stuff.  I'll see if I can whip something up.

I have scupper plugs and used them once.  I no longer carry them, because like INSAYN I can't figure out when I would NOT want water to drain out.

However, nice project conception and execution.

I've got the OK blue and yellow plugs and use them religiously in my T-13.  Probably a statement to being a little overweight, but when I don't use them water comes into the boat like gangbusters.

I'd like to use a couple right where I sit.  I don't generally get a lot of splash but I get a bunch of wather coming up through the holes.

I almost lost a lure down one the other day too..... nice way to keep that from happening.
