When should my friend visit?

One of my friends from back east  wants to visit this spring for some fishing.  He wants to go for both springers and trout.  I told him that late April/early May would be best.  What do you guys thing?  Should I try to convince him to come in late August for fall nooks and trout because more lakes should be open?

Not sure if your thinking of the high lakes a lot of them were  inaccessible (around here) at the beginning of the trout season in 2011.  With the lack of snow so far this winter we might have another late spring.

Thanks.  I am just going to leave it up to him.  Also, he wants to pan for gold one day too, any recommendations?
