I got my extremely expensive Oregon out of state licenses last week and was reading all the regs.

It appears that you can only buy one Combined Angling Tag and must record all retained Chinook, Coho, Steelhead and Halibut.

Call me an optimist but I'm thinking that if you catch a combined total of 20 wild and hatchery salmon and Steelhead and record them on the Combined Angling Tag then you are no longer allowed to keep any wild Salmon or Steelhead for the year. Does anyone also buy a Hatchery Harvest Tag to record their fin clipped Salmon/Steelhead and just record Natives on the Combined Angling Tag?

I know it's probably a silly question from a guy whose lifetime catch is one Native Chinook (kept), one Native Coho (released), one undersized Sturgeon and zero Steelhead. But as I said, I'm an optimist...

So just humor me, or flame away if you prefer.

Ready, aim, fire!  :blob8:

The reason to get a hatchery harvest tag is if you are one of those guys like a buddy of mine who catches buttloads of salmon and steelhead each year, you don't want to end up wasting slots on your combined tag and then end up with no slots left when fall Chinook/ wild coho retention time comes around. For me, not having a lot of extra blanks spots on my tag at the end of the year has never been a problem.

I haven't yet but if i ever learn how to catch steelhead at any decent rate or fill my tag with wilds, i might get one but that hasn't happened yet.

See ya on the water..
