Just looked at Westport on Magicseaweeds' site and Monday @ noon swell is 3.5 ft. at 16 seconds with only a 4 mph wind.By 6 pm it only goes to 4.5 ft with the same gentle wind.
Sounds like I need to go to Ocean Shores again. Will be checking the tides next just to see where they will be.
10:07 am low tide of 1.7 ft--high tide is at 4:32 rising to 7.5 ft with the same gentle wind.
I never looked at a tide book when Lee,Marie and JPCrowley and I went out on superbowl Sunday and we got spanked by less than ideal conditions..But this sounds pretty good to me.I will be out there with my wife in tow.

Any Washington folk want to try it ?
Thanks Coosbayangler for turning me on to that site. It'll get a lot of use..........

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.

She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Would love to meet up, but like OlySpec I need more seat time in flater water first.  Plus a VHF.

Sounds like a fun time though.

Magicseaweed doesn't combine the multiple swells on the Summary Forecast, so for instance at noon on Monday it says the swell height is 4', however if you go to the full swell break down, it shows a combined swell height of 7.5'.

I find the NOAA forecasts easiest to read.

i.e.

Mon
Se wind 5 to 10 kt. Wind waves 1 ft or less. W swell 7 ft.

Hope you have fun out there Mark, have you fixed up your Outbacks rudder?

Thanks for the link micahgee. I'm still picking up local websites to help plan and enhance my time on the water.
Thanks to all you guys that share important information with others. That's a big part of why this forum is so great--people are willing and wanting to help others succeed with their time on the water.Gotta love it.............
I finished my honey-do list yesterday so I'll be tweaking the Outback today.Oh...and shopping for some new gear to replace the 2 boxes that escaped when I hullied.I think if I tighten up the cables on the rudder it should take care of the control problem. In the center position there seems to be some slack. If I pull the cables tighter I think that should take care of it.Anyone have other tips to increase rudder control ????

My wife mentioned fishing Duck Lake if the salt is looking ugly. And I might just do that. There are bass, crappie, trout, and the water is nearly always calm.I need to get some AOTY points on the board. That ,plus the wife will join me on the water out there. She's not too keen on salt water unless it's flat as glass.

Youtube or the Hobie forums should have some instructional videos for adjusting your rudder.

Another option for bottomfish if its too rough for Ocean Shores, is to fish the Westport Marina breakwater.

Last spring, there one was a day when I had planned on fishing but the South Jetty the conditions deteriorated quickly. I pedaled north to see if the Ocean Shores' sunken jetty was fishable. After a mile or so I saw rows of breakers and turned around. To salvage the trip and at least catch something, I pedaled over to some PB's that were fishing just off the breakwater. I caught some some 10-12" rockfish and an undersized ling. A sea lion jumped out of the water a few feet from my kayak, startled the hell out of me and the guys in PB's fishing next to me told I was crazy to be in a kayak out there 8)

Its a busy marina with lots of boat traffic, but there is room to fish in the protection of the breakwater.
