Afternoon therapy

Took a couple of hours today to completely tear down, clean, and re-grease a couple of Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6601C4 s.  The one I've been using for a few years has a tiny bit of corrosion in a couple of wear locations, but overall is in great shape.  The used one I picked up last month on eBay was pristine.  I think I'll start using Corrosion X. 

Tomorrow I tackle a Penn 750SSm and an Abu Big Game 7001HS. 

Corrosion X is great---did you go the Alan Tani route???

I went to smooth drags a few years ago, and went beyond the Alan Tani route - every part that could come off came off.  I am a copious user of Marine trailer bearing grease, and coat the inside of the case and whatever parts whose function will not be impacted by a coat of grease.  Also a bead of grease on the edge of the end plates will inhibit the entry of water. 

Just watched a 6601C4 go for $69 on eBay.  I was sorely tempted.
